Boyd’s Directory of the District of Columbia

Boyd’s Directory of the District of Columbia began in 1858 as a directory of Washington and Georgetown. It took on the “District of Columbia” title in the 1870s, not long after the city consolidation of 1871. The directory ran under the Boyd name until the 1940s, when it was renamed Polk’s directory after its publisher at the time.
